Select your Trainer Model

There are three major types of models. 1. ARF : Almost Ready to Fly, construction is complete with all parts covered, some final assembly of the model is required. Radio receiver, servos and battery need installation, mounting engine, and rigging airplane control surfaces per instructions. 2. RTC : Ready To Cover, all wood construction is finished, model is ready to cover. Then install radio equipment, engine and rig airplane controls per instructions. 3. KIT : This requires complete construction of entire model, covering the wings, tail and fuselage, installation of radio and motor, then rigging control surfaces as per instructions. ![]() Our "Stick 40+" was built as a Tail-dragger. This makes take-off a little tricky for students. The Tricycle Gear configuration is much easier to steer and would be a better choice for training . |
Select an Engine for your Trainer Model

Most Trainers will fly well with a .40 or .45 c.i displacement engine. Check what the model manufacture recommends and verify your choice with your Flight Instructor. |
Select your Radio System Model
|
The Radio equipment you purchase should be one that is compatible with your Flight Instructors "Buddy Box" equipment, if applicable. The second option is the Frequency Channel. Check to see which Channel is not in use by other club members. FCAM Frequency Usage chart. This would eliminate flying conflicts and possible interference. |
